Haiti remains the poorest country in the Americas and one of the poorest countries in the world (with a GDP per capita of 783 USD in 2017). 59% of the Haitian population lives under the national poverty line of USD 2.41 per day and 24% even live under the national extreme poverty line of 1.23 USD per day. The profound poverty and its impact on children are unimaginable.
